MARINE PLYWOOD
- Increased stability
Marine plywood has the inherent advantage of high quality veneers and enhanced properties in its laminated structure, thereby making it more stable. The cross laminated construction of plywood ensures stability under changing effects of temperature and moisture.
- Water resistant
The biggest advantage of marine plywood is that it controls water penetration and hence is basically used in marine applications. It is because of the special glue layer which makes it completely waterproof. They can be subjected to extreme water conditions for prolonged period and still not expand. It is durable and prevents wood rotting.
- Resist impact
The outer layer of marine plywood is very hard and dense; therefore it can sustain very strong impacts. It can undergo lot of wear and tear on a regular basis and still you don’t have to worry much about it. It does not require regular maintenance and offers the best impact resistance. There are less effects of wear and tear due to climatic conditions, so they are widely used to make marine vessels, and floors of floating cottages.
- Flexible
This is another big advantage of marine plywood. It is pliable i.e. the wood can be bent easily but maintains its structural integrity. It does not crack or get deformed easily under adverse conditions.
- Finishing
It has a smooth surface finish that is soft to touch unlike other plywood used in other application which is too rough to touch. It can be painted as well to give a different look.
